A condition of mental and emotional strain with demanding circumstances is what is referred to as stress. Stress affects the mental health of a person. Stress is caused by very many factors. People are affected by the causes of stress differently. Where we can be a source of our stress. At the workplace, one can be affected by being unhappy with the job, working for long hours, and working under dangerous conditions. Life stress is other form of stress. The causes of life stress are divorce, getting married, loss of a job, the death of a loved one among others.
Sometimes however, stress can come from inside. Meaning that one can stress themselves out by worrying about certain things. Stress is not something that is healthy. This is why people are advised to try as much as possible to be stress free. There are proven negative health effects of stress. Irritability, a headache, fatigue, and difficulty in sleeping are the examples of the health implications of stress. The worst can happen with some of these health implications of stress. The good news is that there are ways to manage stress.
Below are examples of tips that can assist a person to deal with stress. Caffeine, nicotine and alcohol should be avoided by avoided when a person is experiencing stress. Nicotine and caffeine are known to be stimulants. People mistake these substances for reducing the stress levels but in the real case they increase it. Alcohol is a depressant when taken in large quantities, however, it is not a helpful way of dealing with stress. Getting more sleep is a simple way that can help a stressed person to reduce the stress levels. Lack of sleep has been identified to be a cause of stress. There are also some relaxation techniques that one might try to help them reduce stress. Majority of these relaxation techniques have been tried and tested.
The other means of stress management is through doing physical exercises. There is an increase in the stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline when someone is stressed. Exercise can therefore boost the production of these hormones. Iit is not, however, necessary that the exercise be vigorous. Brisk walking in fresh air can be very helpful. A more permanent situation is the incorporation of physical activities in your daily routine.
Exercise helps in stress management following certain mechanisms. One of these mechanisms is through pumping of endorphins into one’s body. These are neurotransmitters that induce a good feeling to the brain The irritations of the day can be forgotten following an exercise session. Exercise is also effective in improving the mood of a person. The symptoms of depression and increasing the confidence of a person are the ways that exercise assist in improving the mood of a person.
